Eriez® Animation Demonstrates Integrated Metal Recovery Solutions for Scrap Recycling
Eriez® is raising the bar for scrap yard efficiency and profitability with its comprehensive range of metal recovery technologies—now brought to life through a new, cutting-edge animation. The video provides a detailed overview of how Eriez’s versatile, industry-leading equipment can be tailored to meet challenges at every stage of ferrous and non-ferrous metal processing.
The animation serves as a dynamic visual demonstration of how Eriez helps scrap yards maximise metal recovery, reduce downtime, and increase profitability. These technologies can be implemented individually or combined into a fully engineered system, working together seamlessly. Lloyd Williams, Sales Director at Eriez-Europe, explains: “Eriez doesn’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. We work closely with scrap yard operators to understand their specific needs and design bespoke systems that deliver outstanding results.”
The video opens with PokerSort®, a solution for one of the most persistent issues in scrap processing: removing long ferrous items from shredded material. Automating this step protects downstream equipment from jams, minimises damage, and improves material flow—reducing costly disruptions and increasing throughput.
Next, the Double Pass P-Rex® Drum System is shown in action. Its dual-drum configuration and high magnetic strength enable it to deliver exceptional ferrous recovery while producing cleaner material by removing more non-ferrous residue. This is followed by the Shred1® Ballistic Separator, which separates premium, low-copper ferrous from standard #2 shred—cutting down on manual sorting and boosting material value. The Eriez Electromagnetic Scavenger Drum then further cleans the output by removing remaining ferrous, non-ferrous and debris, improving the grade of the shredded scrap.
The animation then moves to non-ferrous recovery, illustrating how Eriez equipment ensures consistent material handling and precise separation. Suspended Electromagnets remove residual ferrous contaminants from the non-ferrous stream. The Dynamic Pulley Separator introduces an agitating magnetic field to enhance separation of finer ferrous particles. Meanwhile, the Ultra High-Frequency Eddy Current Separator delivers exceptional non-ferrous recovery, producing clean, ready-for-market mixed metal output with minimal contamination.
Also featured are the Drum-in-Housing Magnetic System and ST22 Eddy Current Separator, ideal for medium-sized non-ferrous materials. The LT2 Eddy Current Separator targets coarse non-ferrous fractions, following an Eriez Magnetic Pulley that automatically extracts large ferrous items. Any oversized material is processed through a trommel to complete the thorough recovery sequence.
“We developed this animation to showcase how Eriez’s focus on innovation, automation, and integrated systems brings real benefits to scrap yards,” Williams notes. “Reduced manual labour, improved efficiency, better equipment protection, and enhanced metal recovery all contribute to making these operations more profitable, more efficient, and better prepared for the future.”
With decades of engineering expertise and dedicated support, Eriez enables scrap yards of all sizes to achieve rapid return on investment. Whether through targeted upgrades or full system integration, Eriez delivers the proven technology and insight to keep operations running at maximum performance.
