The tree is looking particularly sparkly, the presents are wrapped, the house is cleaned, distant relatives are increasing in number like wet Mogwai and Michael Buble is playing simultaneously on every radio frequency. Despite the lack of snow, there’s no mistaking the signs – the winter holidays are upon us.
