The transmitters are made up of a chain of switches which are evenly spaced at intervals of 5mm, 10mm or 20mm gaps, as the float moves along this chain, the magnetic field which is generated by the float closes the reed switches changing the resistance in the circuit, the resistance output is proportional to the level of the liquid.
