We currently have several vacancies within the Safety Service Team of Omron Europe. The Safety Service Team is covering the full range from assessing machines, training staff plus remediating and validating machines on site. Therefore we are looking for a new collegue in the role of Consulting Project Engineer
The Supervision of site installations of safety remediation projects is an important part of the Safety Service Team in Europe and will be focussing on:
Coordination of partners on-site machine safety assessments of customer’s production machinery
Overseeing partner activity during conceptual design phase. Identify quality and compliance of contracted safety solutions ensuring they are in line with applicable standards
Ensuring partner activity is aligned with customer standards and local codes of practice
Liaise with supplying partner to ensure pre site preparation is checked
Report daily on status of project progression using allotted tracking tools
Ensure Omron and customer expectation during installation phase in regards to
Schedule
Quality
Budget
Overseeing the installation of remediation delivery by Partner installation teams
Have sole responsibility to sustain Omron Self delivery projects
Develop safety engineering designs and delivery of safety related projects with a mix of Omron resources and partner installation teams
Perform Risk assessments at customer sites and record the data in a detailed report
Create a detailed design specification for site engineers to work on
Perform validation checks on completed machines and demonstrate to the customer
The location of the job is flexible. Preferred locations are UK, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands or Belgium.
Primary duties and responsibilities
The Safety Installation Supervisor will be responsible for leading all aspects of the safety installation process, such as:
Oversight during machine safety audits and process safety compliance audits at our customer sites (machine safety assessment/risk reduction reviews) to determine level of compliance with local and European regulations and applicable standards
Preparing, delivering and presenting reports, analysis and quotations of proposed risk reduction systems to prospective customers
Review of proposed designs and qualify suitablity of specifying machine safety system solutions that are accurate and comply with relevant standards and regulations
Communicate with the Safety Service Team and with OSSP’s (Omron Safety Service Partners) to ensure that information gathered during the engineering reviews at conceptual stage is usable in the preparation of projects
Ensure strict validation procedures are adhered to with all documentation and authority signatures are attained prior to project close
Completing, maintaining, and processing required paperwork, reports and records in a timely fashion (timesheets, service and expense reports, etc.)
Creation of detailed safety requirement specification
Development of design drawings for safety control systems
Creation of conceptual designs of mechanical guarding
Cooperating with local sales organization and Omron Project managers to address key customer issues with regards to safety compliance and specific site needs
Take a share in internal safety standards and procedure management
Education, prior work experience, and specialized skills and knowledge
Bachelor or University degree / Technician Training with 5 years industrial experience
Professional Safety certification (e.g. TUV) or in preparation to attain such status is preferred
Work experience in site installation projects for machine safety and the related processes and procedures in an industrial environment
Work experience and knowledge of applicable industrial machinery safety standards (EN, ISO, etc.)
Strong electrical / controls background associated with industrial machinery
Experience and knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic concepts
Strong analytical skills and the ability to convert identifiable needs into product solutions
The candidate has ideally had responsibilities in applying and documenting application standards for a variety of manufacturing machinery
Ideally has a background in applying, working with and installing safety products on industrial equipment
Has experience in conducting training and presenting in customer meetings
Has experience in reading and or writing technical manuals or other operating procedures in a manufacturing environment
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, and authorities
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists
Advanced skills in PC applications
