Eriez has introduced three new models to its SafeHold APL Series of permanent lifting magnets.

The APL-52, APL-70 and APL-100 extend the range’s lifting capacity to 10,000 pounds (4,546 kg), supporting the handling of larger steel plates, cut parts and fabricated components.

The SafeHold APL Series features crane-activated permanent lifting magnets that allow operators to load and unload steel sheets and plates from a safer distance, without the need for manual magnet activation or release.

The series also removes the need for the costly battery backup systems found on many electromagnetic lifting systems.

The new models are suitable for a range of metalworking applications, including steel fabrication, steel service centres and large-component machining.

They can be used to load and unload steel plates, position cut parts and handle fabricated components in plasma cutting, laser cutting, waterjet cutting and other material handling environments.

Andrew Kloecker, Senior Sales Product Specialist at Eriez, said:

“As lifting magnet ratings have become more stringent and manufacturers place greater emphasis on workplace safety and productivity, demand has increased for lifting solutions capable of handling larger materials.

“The new APL models help meet this demand and, in some applications, allow users to replace multiple lifting devices and beam assemblies with a single-magnet solution. This can simplify lifting operations, improve efficiency and reduce handling hazards.”
