PPE Inspection

PPE Inspection is a CSS Worksafe training course developed to improve knowledge, competence and safer working practices.


Aims & Objectives: The course will provide competency in identifying faults & damage to general items of fall protection equipment, maintenance and storage of such equipment, record keeping and authorized repair.


Suitability: Operatives/Engineers.


Requirements: Students should be physically fit.


Syllabus: Introduction. Legislation, Standards and Codes of Practice. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at Work Regulations 1992.


The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998. EN 365. Personal Protective Equipment against Falls from Height. General.


Requirements: for Instructions for Use, Maintenance, Periodic Examination, Repair, Marking and Packaging. BS 8437. Code of Practice for Selection, Use and Maintenance of Personal Fall Protection Systems and Equipment for Use in the Workplace. Types and Frequency of Inspection.

Pre-Use Checks. Interim Inspections. Detailed or Periodic Inspections. Marking and Identification.


Maintenance, Cleaning & Storage of Equipment. Identification of Defects & Damage. Lifespan. UV Light Degradation of Man Made Fibers. Authorized Repair and Alterations. Record Keeping. Notes. Fully Comprehensive notes will be given to all delegates who attend the course.


Certification: On satisfactory completion of the course a certificate of competence will be issued that will be valid for 3 years.
